The purpose of the TATD Merit Scholarship is to reward deserving seniors who have allowed TATD to become an integral part of their dance education.
The goal is to allow dance students of member teachers to further their scholastic and/or dance education through a scholarship award.
Applicants will be evaluated on poise, talent, and potential, demonstrated in their package video presentation and written questionnaire.
Individual scholarship awards will range between $100 and $500. All scholarships of TATD are non-transferable and must be used by June 30 of the following year.
The scholarship applicant must:
- Attend five TATD conventions prior to their senior year in high school.
- Complete a written questionnaire and cover letter.
- Prepare and send a DVD consisting of 2-3 minutes of solo dance. (This may exhibit one or more forms of dance and must be a solo studio performance.) These DVDs will remain the property of TATD and will not be returned. A brief introduction and answers to the two questions on the questionnaire should be included on the DVD.
Upon award of a scholarship, the winner is instructed to send an invoice or receipt for compensation to the treasurer of TATD before December of that year.
Merit scholarship recipients are NOT eligible for Convention Scholarships.
Completed application must be received by January 15 of the dancer's senior year in high school.
Responsibility for student eligibility rests with member teachers. Scholarship chair will confirm eligibility.
